For a very long time, the only way to learn the art and craft of tattooing was by trial an error in your kitchen (yikes!), or getting yourself a traditional apprenticeship.
Throughout history, apprenticeships have been difficult to obtain, difficult to keep, and meant a lot of hard work ‘earning your place’ washing floors and being the ‘shop B&%$#’ for 2+ years. While we don’t discredit the values and lessons learnt in a traditional apprenticeship, we also see that the industry has come to a crossroad…
With so much information online, it is inevitable that aspiring artists are going to be lead to believe they can learn the skills required to be a professional tattoo artist via youtube and other online sources. However, we believe this to be a very naive perception and lacking in structure and providing our newcomers with a solid foundation for tattooing.
Other parallel industries like hair and beauty have had structured schooling as part of the standard entry into their industries for many years. Why should tattooing be any different? Wouldn’t it make more sense to have properly trained and educated artists out there in the world marking people for life?
That’s why we’ve decided to create a place to learn the art and craft of tattooing in a classroom environment. We are the first in Queensland to offer such training specifically for tattooing and we are so excited to bring our knowledge and expertise to the industry in this new and exciting way.
Below you will find a list of our current workshop offering. Click the links for more information about each. We will be adding to this list in the coming months so please check back for updates.
